Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee

Development

The Town first adopted a comprehensive plan in 1961 as part of a statewide effort funded by the federal government, and again in 1984-85 when it attempted to adopt a land use ordinance for the first time.

The update to the Town’s Comprehensive Plan, adopted at the June 2014 Annual Town Meeting, has become the basis for the Town’s long term planning efforts.  In late 2014 the Board of Selectmen and the Planning Board held a joint workshop to strategize on the development of land use regulation changes that will encourage such changes as increased opportunities for “aging in place” and economic development.

Individuals who are interested in being a part of the development of the comprehensive plan are invited to submit an application to serve on the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, or one of five work groups.
