The work of the Waterfront Committee and the Coastal Communities Grant Oversight Committee addressed a wide range of topics, including the reconstruction of the parking lot to incorporate protection from sea level rise and storm surge, celebration of the rich maritime history of this region, and the construction of amenities that will benefit residents and visitors alike. 

At their August 19, 2015 meeting, the Damariscotta Board of Selectmen accepted the report of the Town's Waterfront Committee.  The Committee's work spanned more than a year and a half and included multiple public meetings including two open houses, a citizen/business survey, meetings with several State and Federal agencies and considerable research and review of previous planning studies and other resources.

The work of this Committee and the Coastal Communities Grant Oversight Committee addressed a wide range of topics including the reconstruction of the parking lot to incorporate protection from sea level rise and storm surge, celebration of the rich maritime history of this region and the construction of amenities that will benefit residents and visitors alike.

The report describes four components for reconstructing and improving the Municipal Parking Lot and waterfront area as well as two recommendations for future consideration.  Town staff are currently pursuing several grant funding opportunities that will allow the Town to move forward on the initial phases of this project.
