Finance / Treasurer
The Treasurer's Office is responsible for managing the financial affairs of the Town to assure that public resources are responsibly and accurately received, safeguarded, accounted for, and distributed.

General Assistance
The town will grant assistance to eligible applicants for basic necessities according to the maximum levels for specific types of assistance. Basic necessities include housing, heat, LP Gas, electricity, food, personal and household supplies, and other basic necessities when they are deemed essential to an applicant's or recipient's health and safety by the general administrator.

Harbor Management
Harbor Management ensures boater and public safety, provides consensus among towns bordering the territorial waters of Damariscotta and Newcastle, and balances the public’s interest in the recreational, commercial, natural, and cultural resources and other uses in Damariscotta’s and Newcastle’s waters in the Damariscotta River, Great Salt Bay and the tidal waters of the Sheepscot River.

Public Works
The Public Works Department's daily and seasonal duties include weekly trash collection of the downtown area, mowing multiple town properties, upkeep of the Biscay Beach property, snow plowing and snow removal of the sidewalks, pothole repair, as well as repairing or replacing street signs on an as-needed basis.

Transfer Station
The Nobleboro-Jefferson Transfer Station serves the communities of Nobleboro, Jefferson, Bremen, Damariscotta, and Newcastle. It provides for the disposal of all types of solid waste from these five towns.

Water & Wastewater
Great Salt Bay Sanitary District (GSBSD) is a publicly owned, quasi-municipal utility organized to provide safe drinking water in Damariscotta and Newcastle and to provide wastewater treatment services in the Towns of Damariscotta, Newcastle, and Nobleboro. Our mission is to provide safe drinking water, adequate fire protection, and effective wastewater treatment.
